Haywire is a 2011 American action thriller film directed by Steven Soderbergh, starring Gina Carano, Michael Fassbender, Ewan McGregor, Bill Paxton, Channing Tatum, Antonio Banderas, and Michael Douglas. Carano, a mixed martial arts fighter, performs her own stunts in the film. Carano is cast as Mallory Kane, an operative who works for a company that handles sensitive "black operations" covertly so that the government can maintain plausible deniability. In the film, the firm is hired to rescue a hostage in Spain, an operation which goes well. Then she is hired to pose as the wife of a British MI6 agent, but this is a ruse and she is actually being set up for assassination; Spain and the assassination plot turn out to be connected, and Kane has to unravel the complicated conspiracy against her.
